The Science of Living Longer
Should Be Free for Everyone
IQ Healthspan exists to translate the most rigorous longevity research into clear, actionable, rigorously sourced content — without paywalls, without hype, and without dumbing it down.
IQ Healthspan was built on a straightforward conviction: the science of living a longer, healthier life is advancing faster than most people realize — and the biggest obstacle between that science and the people who could benefit from it is accessibility, not complexity.
I’m a father of four, and I’ve always been drawn to athletics and staying fit. As I’ve gotten older, staying healthy for the long run has become more and more interesting to me, and I’ve always had a strong interest in the supplement industry. As that interest matured, following the industry’s trends was a natural next step, and it kept leading back to one question: what does the research actually support? The information existed. It just wasn't organized, translated, or made freely available in a way that a motivated, intelligent person without a medical degree could actually use.
That gap is what IQ Healthspan is built to close. Every article on this site is developed against peer-reviewed literature, with factual claims sourced to published studies via numbered citations — and written to be genuinely useful, not to generate pageviews or sell supplements.
I am not a doctor. I am not a researcher. I am a curious, rigorous person who believes that high-quality health education should be a public good. The expertise on this site comes from the primary scientific literature itself — claims are sourced to peer-reviewed research so readers can verify them independently. My role is to synthesize that literature accurately and hold every article to a high standard of evidence.
What We Are Building — and Why
Longevity science is one of the fastest-moving fields in medicine. In the past decade alone, researchers have identified twelve hallmarks of aging, shown that rapamycin extends lifespan in mice even when started late in life, developed epigenetic clocks that estimate biological age, and run the first small human trials of drugs that clear senescent cells.
Most of this has not reached the general public in a usable form. The gap between what the research shows and what people actually know about aging well is enormous — and it has real consequences for the millions of adults making daily decisions about diet, exercise, sleep, supplementation, and preventive healthcare.
IQ Healthspan's mission is to close that gap systematically, rigorously, and for free.
Who Is Behind Every Article
Derek Giordano is the editor responsible for every article published on IQ Healthspan. The approach is the one careful science journalism uses: start with the primary literature, follow the weight of evidence, disclose uncertainty explicitly, and cite everything so readers can verify it.
IQ Healthspan is transparent about what it is and what it isn't. Derek is not a physician, and this site does not provide medical advice. What it does provide is a rigorously sourced translation layer between complex scientific literature and motivated readers — with full citations, explicit uncertainty disclosure, and zero conflicts of interest. Readers are always encouraged to consult their healthcare providers before making medical decisions.
